We were so excited for Nan and Poppa to come visit us!! They have been trying to come out for a few years but things kept coming up to prevent them from making it here. We were so excited!! Nan stayed with us for a few nights and days while Poppa had to work. She got to do all sorts of fun things with us like play headbandz.
There was also some playing of old maid, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pennies (although we used candies instead). Nan loves to play games just as much as the girls!
We also took Nan to some of our favorite places like the park by the river. The girls were riding on these logs like they were horses. So fun!
So Dad decided to take the girls and Nan for a visit to Ken's where they rode actual horses! What a perfect day! This was the first year Elizabeth would get on the horse - way to go Wibs!!
Cera is an old hat - she really enjoys riding around on horses.
And Emilee has had a few chances to ride horses too. Good job girls! They spoiled the horses after with some carrots and apples.
We had Poppa out to dinner and a short visit before he took Nan for a couple days to help him with driving for work. The girls decided to plan a talent show. It was complete with tickets for us to get into the show that they stamped as we headed downstairs.
There was singing and dancing and some gymnastic moves thrown in the there. The girls had prepared well and took turns announcing the upcoming performances. We were very entertained.
To wrap up the evening Nan and Poppa treats us to dessert. Look at those smiley faces!!
What a great bunch! They had a great visit while they ate their frozen yogurt filled with candies. Mom and Dad got to sit at their own table!
Poppa decided to spoil the girls even more with a stuffy from Menchies that they are always trying to talk Dad into. Here was Elizabeth's reaction when she realized what was happening. What a funny girl!!
Emilee's face shouts, "Best Day Ever!!"
The night ended with each of the girls reading one of their favorite books or stories to Nan and Poppa. It was a good day!
Nan returned a few days later to spend a couple more days with us. Elizabeth got her one morning all to herself while the other girls were at school. She got to pick whatever she wanted to do with Nan. We played some games at home and then headed to the park by the river for a picnic.
Elizabeth and Nan spent some time throwing rocks in the river before Elizabeth had to head to preschool.
After dropping Elizabeth off the other girls were picked up to skip an afternoon of school to spend time with Nan. (they were having a fun carnival at school so weren't missing too much) Cera decided she wanted to take Nan to show her the Big Rock.
We enjoyed walking around the Big Rock and talking about how it got there. Then we made a stop at the library as Emilee wanted to show Nan where she loves to get books.
On the final day of their visit we headed into the city. The girls were excited to take a ride on the c-train.
The train was pretty full but we found a couple seats! Look at those smiles of fun and excitement!
After a train ride and a short walk we arrived at the tents for Kurios - Cabinet of Curiosities. We were all excited to watch cirque du soleil.
There were so many cool things to see!!
We had purchased some of the cheaper tickets and thought we would be super far away but when we found our seats they were great! We were off to one of the sides but they moved all around the stage and we didn't feel we missed anything. It was so great!!
Poppa arrived with some circus goodies to share!
The show was spectacular! The girls loved every minute (us adults did too) and we enjoyed the time spent with Nan and Poppa. Some great memories were made and the girls want to go to another show!
We rode the train back to the car and then met up at a restaurant for dinner. We enjoyed some good food and great visiting.
Nobody wanted to night to come to an end as we would be headed home and Nan and Poppa to their hotel to get up early to catch a flight home. It was a fun, memory filled visit and we hope to do it again sooner than later. Group hug!!
The girls watched and waved as Nan and Poppa drove away. There were a few tears in the car as we headed for home but also promises that we would see them again. Family is so great!!
