The pictures we took don't really do it justice but we were able to enjoy a beautiful harvest moon this month. It was so big and bright!
This month we also took some time to do some deep cleaning and purging of Emilee and Elizabeth's room and our toy bins. It felt good and we had lots of things to sell, donate and get rid of.
The girls have taken an interested in the babies again. Elizabeth was excited to learn how to swaddle her baby and then was bouncing and singing to it. It was very cute to watch.
Elizabeth was very excited to show us her dog she made with leaves when we went to meet the teacher night. Very creative work!
Elizabeth's teacher often sends pictures from the day. Mom enjoys seeing a glimpse into the day and gets excited when the pictures are of Elizabeth's work. Here she drew a picture of Toothless and wrote about him. Good work Elizabeth!
The girls participated in the Terry Fox walk again this year. Emilee enjoyed walking with some of her good friends. The girls love taking a toonie for Terry each year.
The girls school did it's own cross country run this year for grade 4-9. Sadly the day was cold and rainy but the kids still did great. Cera came in 6th place for grade 5 girls. She was pretty proud of herself as her goal was to be in the top ten. We were proud of her hard work too!

Wetlands Field Trip
Cera's grade 5 class was able to go on a field trip to learn more about wetlands. It was a fun day full of learning that Mom was able to attend with Cera. Their group was in the classroom for the morning where they learned more about the wetlands, their purpose and the many animals and plants that can be found there. They then had the opportunity to design a new bug for the wetlands. They had to plan out all the aspects of their bug and then were able to build it using a bunch of art supplies. The kids had a great time and there was a lot of creativity going on.
After lunch their group was able to go visit some wetlands and explore the animals found there. They walked right past a deer resting in the bushes on their way to the water. They received some instructions on how to catch the bugs found in the wetlands and then work to identify them.
Then the groups were off to explore the wetlands! The kids had fun trying to catch the best bugs from the water.
They found some neat bugs and were able to look on their charts to identify it's type and what benefits it had for the wetlands. The kids could have spent hours searching and sharing their bugs. It was a great afternoon.
We are grateful for the opportunities the girls have to learn and grow at school. We are also grateful for their teachers that make sure they have many ways to learn and explore new things. We are truly lucky to live where we do and be surrounded by so much beauty and nature.

Food Drive
We were excited to be part of the town wide food drive this year. The girls enjoyed going out to about 150 houses to deliver bags and notes about the food drive. Then the most fun for them came on the Saturday as we drove around to over 200 houses picking up the food they had left out in bags on their step. Cera would run up to the houses and then bring the bags to the open back hatch of the car where her sisters were waiting to pile it in. We filled our car full twice! (Too bad Mom forgot to get a picture of the girls in it both times!) It was a great morning of service and the girls were so happy and giddy the rest of the day. They are already talking about next year.
The support of the town was so amazing! They church gym, hallways and classrooms were full of donations for the food bank. In fact the food bank had to contact local businesses and individuals with empty garages to help store the donations until they could find more room. It was a great town effort that will help those in need for the next couple of months. We are grateful that we could be part of this wonderful opportunity.

For the Love of Pies
It's always good to have a pie making day! We owed Grandpa some pies for his birthday (which was in August but he already was receiving a pie so we waited) and we had some apples waiting to be used. This time around we decided to make a few deep dish personal pies too.
The girls were excited to deliver our apple and blueberries pies to Grandpa. A few personal size and a few bigger size for when he wants to share.
Before all of the extra crusts made it to the freezer, Cera wanted to use a few to make lemon meringue pies. They turned out great! One for Cera, one for Grandma and one for Dad.

Long Weekend Fun
Dad suggested we head away somewhere for the long weekend but Mom was ready for just a relaxing weekend at home. Cera worked on and finished her volcano from Christmas. It was fun for all of us to watch it erupt.
Mom decided to surprise the girls with a mini spa complete with drinks and chocolate!
When Mom called for one of the girls to come up and help her with something, none of them were too excited to come. Cera decided to take a break from their playing and was happy she did!
Elizabeth didn't like the chocolate but loved picking her colors to get her toe and finger nails painted with!
Emilee wasn't happy about having to do a chore or two and was pleasantly surprised when she arrived upstairs.
It was a fun morning for the girls and they are all happy with their painted nails!

Back to School!
Back to school came way too fast this year!! We had such a fun and busy summer that we weren't ready for it to end...but sadly it's not up to us so the girls had to go back. Cera was excited to curl her hair for the first day back. Isn't she looking way too grown up?
And their off with the backpacks full of supplies and their hands full of more! Here's to another great school year of learning, growing and having fun!
So excited to have them all at the same school! It will make for easier dropping off/picking up and planning schedules for all the school extras like parent teacher interviews, concerts and volunteering.
We were grateful that Dad could go into work a bit late so he could come with us on the first day of school. This year the school sent each of the kids a postcard in the summer letting them know who their teacher would be. We loved this!! It helped with some of the nervous, anxious feelings that come with the first day. They were also able to find out which of their friends were in their class for the year. We hope this is the new plan going forward.
